It has been almost a month ago now since we saw the start of the first annual CEE Cup. Despite the few rainy days in the end we can conclude that the tournament was a big success for the playing teams, the connected sponsors and charity and most of all the match visitors.
The tournament was won by FK Mlada Boleslav beating the Bulgarian top team Levski Sofia in the final, with 1-0, thanks to a goal by Jan Mižič. RNK Split from Croatia claimed the third place beating one of Prague’s home teams Bohemians 1905.
As the Best Goalkeeper of the Tesco CEE Cup, Iliev Dimitar from Levski Sofia was voted. Petr Nerad from Bohemians 1905 was voted the best player of the tournament, whilst the Tesco CEE Cup saw two top goal scorers: Jan Boček from FK Mlada Boleslav and Karol Meszároš from ŠK Slovan Bratislava, both with 6 goals in 4 matches.
Having mentioned that the Tesco CEE cup saw a huge number of goals, making it a very exiting tournament and spectacle to watch and follow. During the 24 matches, 111 goals were made: 4,63 goals per match!
We thank all teams for their participation and great performances, the supporters for creating ambiance and all sponsors for supporting this progressive initiative for the city of Prague, the Czech Republic and the entire Central & Eastern European region. Special thanks go to the international retailer Tesco that adopted and embraced this young and healthy initiative in a very supportive way.
The final match was a fundraising action for UNICEF. Together with sponsors and match visitors we were able to generate and donate more than three thousand Euro to UNICEF, for the support of their projects for children in need on our planet.
The tournament will see its second version taking place next year, where a new and improved concept will allow in an increase of teams, supporters, joy, entertainment and fun for all.
